Repair Policy
All repair requests made to Palmtop Support Services will require
an up front fee of $25.00 dollars before any repairs will be started.
The up front fee of $25.00 is taken off the final balance of the
repair invoice, once you confirm your wish to have your hand held
gadget repaired.
Here are examples of Cracked Screens
- screens that have been DROPPED
from high places, FLUNG through the air, or CRUSHED
by an enormous weight.
Palmtop Support Services Refusal Fee Policy:
If the owner does not wish to proceed with the repair after receiving
a description of the repairs and an estimate of the repair costs,
the $25.00 dollar up front fee becomes NON REFUNDABLE plus G.S.T.
The unit is returned at the owner's cost.
We only accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, & money
orders.
Please Note* If the device is under manufacture warranty, please
attach your proof of purchase to the completed repair form.
Palmtop Support Services will guarantee all repairs with a sixty
(60) day warranty.
We estimate all repairs will take approximately 10 working days.
All customers can obtain free technical support via electronic
methods. Our World Wide Web page offers many support topics and
can be used by anyone with Internet access and a Web browser.
Internet users can also communicate with our support department
by sending an electronic mail message.
File Recovery
Regardless of how well you look after your machine, or how well
built it is, there is always a small chance that something may
go wrong. When that happens, there is often very little that you
can do except to restore the latest backup of your files and start
again.
There may be circumstances where you cannot return to a backup
of a corrupted or deleted file.
There may have been some very important data in the lost files.
Or perhaps your backup routine isn't 100% perfect.
While there can never be any guarantees, our Technical Services
department has the tools to attempt recovery of your data. If
your Agenda file has become to large to open, or your Phone Numbers
are in the wrong file type, our Technical Department could help.
Data Transfers (what does "PDA" mean again?)
The PDA market always has new machines to choose from and you
may be ready to move to a new pocket computer. But some or all
of the data and information you already have doesnt run
on the latest handheld machines. What can you do?
You could type everything in again from scratch, but we have been
working with the latest machines and software so we can transfer
your vital information to your new machine quickly and easily.
Be it your diary of appointments, a vital selection of names and
addresses, or your doctoral thesis, if your new machine can accommodate
it, well move your data.
PC Setup
One of the most difficult tasks in managing your information is
getting your desktop computer to talk to your palmtop. What use
is having information at your fingertips if you can't move it
around and work on it on whatever machine you want?
PC's can be set up in hundreds of different ways - and so can
the software used to talk to your palmtop. While the software
supplied by the manufacturers will, in most circumstances, configure
the basics, the final step can sometimes be the hardest to take.
So why struggle?
We can get your machines talking to each other, and help you work
with your information. We can't help configure your office network,
but we can get your information onto your Palmtop.
Basic support hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Standard time,
Monday through Friday. A flat fee of $ 24.99 will be charged within
the first 15 minutes for any technical support questions $ 2.00/minute
any time after. No charge for existing customers. Spring 2002.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PACKAGES COMING IN FOR REPAIRS
Thank you for submitting your repair form to Palmtop Support Services.
Please complete the following steps to ensure the best possible
services while your handheld unit is in for repairs.
* BACKUP your machine! We will try and save your data and
restore it back to your repaired unit, but it is your responsibility
to backup your important information!
Print out a copy of your completed repair form and send
it with the unit to be repaired. (www.410palm.com)
Fill in as many details as possible:
- Your name, address, telephone number and email address
- Description of the fault and any other symptoms that we should
look out for
- Passwords (disable it on the machine)
- If you decide not to have your handheld computer repaired after
a repair quotation is given to you, Palmtop Support Services will
bill you $25.00 plus G.S.T. for an inspection fee. However, if
you wish to have the repair completed, NO inspection fees will
be billed to you. Ask your representative about this procedure
if you are not clear.
- Payments can be made on credit card (all cards accepted). If
you are not comfortable giving out your credit card information,
a representative will take that number when he or she contacts
you after inspecting your unit.
* Please note:
Package your machine well, for example, with bubble wrap, newspaper
or an insulated box..
* Please do not include your unit's original box, as this
will not be returned.
Ask your courier about insurance on your package, and retain
your tracking number in case the package gets lost in transit
to us.

Non-Warranty Repair
Manufacturers offer warranty coverage on most model phones for
up to a period of one year, however defective phones after this
one year period can be repaired and restored to "like new"
condition for a fraction of the price of a new phone. Turn around
time 5-10 days( where parts are available) $35.00 Inspection fees
